s5 logo plain

The logo is basically comprised of three major icons formed into one.

The Globeglobe

Inspired by the great commission of Christ, “Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation” (Mark 16:15), the word is our mission and all are called into it. This great mandate is a message of universal concern, meaning every nation, people and languages all over the world and therefore, ought to have a universal response.
The dynamism of the color represents the dynamism of the world we are in now. A world that is intercultural, pluralistic, media-mediated, globalized and post modern. This world remains to be the challenge and at the same time an opportunity for mission. The Divine Word Institute of Mission Studies commits herself to form and educate missionaries from different nations, cultures and languages who will be sent to do mission in the new frontiers of mission ( new evangelization).

The Crosscross

“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. (Jn. 3:16) The Love of God the Father is the cradle of our rebirth in the Spirit and our reconciliation by the lifting up of the Son. Jesus came to us to show that there is God who loves us. He did it not by separating himself from the world but by incorporating himself in it. He is so involved with the signs of his time. He was so concerned with the people especially those whom the world considers to be the others. Yet he is in constant communication with the Father. He walks, he talks, and he kneels, a great example indeed of a missionary. The love of God became so real because of the missionary character of Jesus the Christ climaxed in his passion, death and resurrection.
The Divine Word Institute of Mission Studies binds herself to Jesus the Christ, the Divine Word whom our Institution was named. He is our model and guide in our missionary task.
The Globe and the Cross basically comprise the SVD Logo. It represents the zeal of the SVD in forming and educating missionaries who by nature of its origin is a religious missionary congregation.

The Towertower

The Tower icon represents the Divine Word Seminary – Tagaytay (DWST) where the Institute is located. The seminary was founded in 1963 to be primarily a house of formation and school of theology and philosophy for the SVD seminarians. Later it became a school of theology. Then and now it serves different houses of formation and dioceses and lay faithful interested in theological studies and mission studies. As an institution of learning, it gave birth to an institute of mission studies (DWIMS). DWST and DWIMS continue the journey as grace upon grace is given to the Divine Word Missionaries and their collaborators.
