DWIMS hosts theological symposium with Fr. Stephen Bevans, SVD about his latest book “Community of Missionary Disciples: The Continuing Creation of the Church”

Tagaytay City—The Divine Word Institute of Mission Studies (DWIMS) hosted an engaging theological symposium last April 19, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, at the Holy Spirit Chapel.

The symposium featured the talk by prominent theologian Fr. Stephen B. Bevans, SVD, Professor Emeritus of Mission and Culture, at the Catholic Theological Union (CTU) in Chicago, USA. In his talk, Fr. Stephen presented his latest work, the book “Community of Missionary Disciples: The Continuing Creation of the Church”, offering attendees insight into his ecclesiological framework, consistent with the vision of Pope Francis of a synodal Church.

The symposium was moderated by Fr. Antonio Pernia, SVD, DWIMS Vice Director for Studies.

The Divine Word Institute of Mission Studies (DWIMS) extends a warm invitation for everyone to attend the Theological Symposium entitled "Community of Missionary Disciplines: The Continuing Creation of the Church (A Missionary Ecclesiology)", to be held in the morning of April 19, 2024 at the Holy Spirit Chapel.

The symposium shall feature renowned theologian Fr. Stephen B. Bevans, SVD, Professor of Mission and Culture, Emeritus at the Catholic Theological Union (CTU), Chicago, USA, who will speak on his latest book on missionary ecclesiology, entitled: Community of Missionary Disciples: The Continuing Creation of the Church."

Afterwards, the three responders will each dwell on each of the three parts of the book:

• The Essence of the Church
• The Mystery of the Church
• The Structure of the Church.
